Company Overview

Global Life Foods was established in 2013 as a premier food sourcing company servicing high volume customers across retail, foodservice, manufacturing and distribution.

We are an Australian owned and operated business and we work closely with our customers as direct sourcing partners supplying a range of international and mainstream food products from across the globe. As part of the successful Katoomba Group, Global Life Foods draws on a 60-year heritage of product development and sourcing – building strong partnerships with our customers through our expertise, high quality standards and a global supply network.

The strength of our relationship and in-depth knowledge of their businesses is of great value to our customers. The supply of local and international products can be very complicated with short shelf life products, small order volumes and varying levels of logistic capabilities.

We simplify the difficult and challenging part of Sourcing and Supply. We have formed a close working bond with all our suppliers. We treat our suppliers the way we like to be treated ourselves.

In the retail sector, we are a key supplier to major supermarkets and chains including; Coles, Woolworths, Costco, Metcash, and Convenience Stores. Through our sister business, Katoomba Foods, we also have a significant customer base of independent stores with a distribution network that covers capital cities and key regional centres across Australia.

Our foodservice offer has been established to service clients such as; major hotels, catering companies, function centres, restaurants, fast-food chains and franchise groups.

We also have a range of products suitable for food manufacturers and distributors – from quality staples through to specialised ingredients, we are able to offer a comprehensive range of products as well as our global sourcing network and research and development services.

Bringing together global knowledge with local understanding, we apply our experience and global sourcing network to supply our customers with a quality range of both mainstream products and speciality international lines.

Our Heritage & Business

Established in 1959 as a small flour and spice milling and distribution business in Kuantan Malaysia, Katoomba Foods has grown within Australia and on the world stage to be a major supplier of both international and mainstream food products.

This growth reflects the vision and dedication of 3 generations of the Albert family who have worked tirelessly to create the thriving enterprise that is Katoomba Foods today.

Having worked with his father to build the Malaysian business, Nathan Albert moved his family to Australia in 1987 where he started a small manufacturing operation in Sydney supplying supermarkets and restaurants with basic condiments such as spices, ginger and garlic paste.

Steady and stable growth saw the business expand into new areas – becoming an importer and distributor of a selected range of products.  Careful expansion stayed true to a disciplined business philosophy of financial responsibility and considered growth. This approach enabled the ongoing development of the business that added more lines, increased its distribution footprint and grew successfully through the 1990’s and into the new millennium with a growing brand portfolio and physical presence.

Our History

Katoomba Foods

Continuing to build on this strong foundation, Katoomba Foods is now one of the leading frozen and packaged foods sales & distribution organisation within the ethnic trade in Australia.  In addition, Katoomba Foods has established a strong mainstream business supplying a large range of frozen and ambient products to Coles, Woolworths and Costco.

The successful development and growth of the mainstream channels has facilitated the launch of sister company to service this market: Global Life Foods.

Our Heritage

Location & Growth

Across the two businesses we now have well over 100 staff members working in Australia and around the world in roles across; research and development, warehousing and logistics, finance and admin, operations, and sales and marketing.  Our experienced Management team is made up of experts who specialise in the food industry both for ethnic and mainstream markets.

Our distribution network now covers company owned warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide as well as strategic alliances in Perth and Brisbane ensuring national coverage.  All companies we work with overseas are HACCP, ISO and some are BRC accredited.
